Inaugural blog

Considering how much time I spent online, and considering how much I already use a blog for other parts of my life I figured spending time on myself in this way would be a bit refreshing, if not self-indulgent.

Today is marked, as usual, by work. We had steady work in the OR through the early afternoon, but were able to eat together. Of course, I just got a trauma page for 15 minutes, so that ends that little hiatus.

The other weirdness is being rejected for blood donation yesterday. My HGB was 10.2. WTH? Unreal for me. I consider myself fairly healthy, eat very well, and have no bleeding issues. I'm hoping it's a testing abberation.

So much of my life revolves around my job at UVA and the OR. I'm the charge nurse for the OR on weekends, during 0700-1930. I also work on the complex spine team during the week and take specialty call. It's an intellectually draining and physically demanding job, and I try to fit in stress-reduction all the time. I have a life outside of the OR, but is usually reserved for writing with my best friend, Eric, having fun with my labrador retriever, Romeo, or doing stuff for the radio station (WTJU ). I am the classical music director for the station and also a Classical DJ on Thursday mornings from 0600-0900. I wish I could get paid for it, but once again, I have some very useful skills for which no one would like to pay! Aw, I get no credit, no credit at all, I tell ya...

Gotta get myself to the ED - more later from the trauma side of life.
